In this WoW Death Knight guide we’ll take a look at the Death Knight class. Death Knights combine both magic and melee into one hybrid class that was introduced in the Wrath of the Lich King.

Death Knight Overview:

Death Knights can do magic but are especially talented at melee, able to deliver destruction to their enemies. This quality along with anti magic abilities makes them absolutely fantastic tanks. We’ll take a look at some of the upsides and downsides of this class.

You’ll need to have leveled your character to at least 55 before you can unlock the Death Knight. However, it doesn’t matter whether you Alliance or Horde or what race you are, since Death Knight can be any faction or race. Here’re some good races for Alliance and Horde.

Read more about Death Knight strategies in the WoW Death Knight Guide

Alliance Faction:

  • Night Elves- Great for PvP
  • Gnomes
  • Dwarves- Stone forms are really good for Tanks

Horde Faction:

  • Tauren’s War Stomp- Great for both PvP and PvE
  • Forsaken’s will of the Forsaken- Their also really good at PvP and PvE

But as I mentioned you can choose any race.

Death Knight Guide the Upside and Downside

Upside:

  • Heavy Plate Armor- This makes them great for combat and melee.
  • Uncommon & Rare Gear- You get these right from the start.
  • Runic Power- Unique benefits compared to mana, rage, and energy.
  • Two Hand Weapons- Great for Tanking.
  • Anti Magic- Makes them formidable adversaries to magic users.
  • Can use Blood Magic for healing.

Downside:

  • As mentioned you’ll need a level 55 character before you can unlock this class.
  • Although their great tanks, they can’t tank with a shield.
  • Because of their abilities they can take some time to master

Runic Power:

Death Knights don’t use energy, mana or rage but instead use Runes and Runic Power. You start with 6 runes; once they get used up they’ll regenerate every 10 seconds

There are 3 Runes you can use. They are Blood Runes, Unholy Runes, and Frost Runes.

Here’s how some of the Runes are used for some abilities.

  • Death Strike: Uses 1 Unholy & 1 Frost Rune; this is an instant cast and doesn’t require a cool down.
  • Icy Touch: Uses 1 Frost Rune
  • Blood Boil: Uses 1 Blood Rune

You can use these abilities in combination with one another. It’s this fact that can make them a challenge to play well. You may find yourself completely out of Runes if you don’t manage them properly. In some situations, such as combat, 10 seconds can be a long time.

Death Knights –The World of Warcraft’s true heroes

October 19th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Playstation 2 Games, Playstation 3 Games, Playstation Games

Death Knights are the latest class in the World of Warcraft. The new class became available when the World of Warcraft Expansion ‘Wrath of the Lich King’ was released. Blizzard called the Death Knight a Hero class because of several reasons. This doesn’t mean that this class is more powerful than other classes, it just means that it is different.

They do have a new attack system because their attacks and spells are based on Runic Power. They have two runes with a cooldown at their disposal for any attack and spell. The Runes are divided in three sets of two Blood, Frost and Unholy Runes. The talent trees have the same names as these mentioned runes.

A Death Knight wears plate armor, deals melee damage and has several spells that can be cast from distance as well.  The Death Knight class can play both a tank and a good melee dps role in any dungeon group and raid. A DK can use one-hander and two-hander weapons and cannot wield shields.

If you want to create a DK you will need to have another level 70 char in possession. You will start leveling a DK at level 55 which will make your journey a lot easier. Another good point is that you will already have some money at disposal, set of bags and decent gear to continue your leveling.

Your journey will start in The Ebon Hold in the Eastern Plaguelands. At first you will be fighting together with the forces of the Lich King. You will be taking direct orders from the Lich King himself during the quest chains that you should complete in the areas around the Ebon Hold. As rewards for the quests that you complete there you will receive nice blue items and talent points. Since your char starts on the level 55 you won’t have some talent points, however, you will be able to earn those points back by doing quests.

For more information on WoW class guides, read our review: Warcraft Pros Guide

When you reach the level 58 the quest chain you were following will change dramatically. Your char will manage to escape and he/she will join the enemies of the Lich King. At this level you can go anywhere you want and continue your leveling, however the best choice for fast leveling will be the Outlands area. Your char will leave The Ebon Hold completely prepared when it comes to gear and talent points.

As any other character, a Death Knight should also choose two primary professions. The choice of professions is solely up to you, however there are a few professions that can match a DK good. Enchanting is always nice to have because of the ring enchants you can make on your own rings. Since ring enchants are only available for the Enchanter himself it is nice for any character. Jewelcrafting, which is best combined with Mining for cheap leveling purposes, is nice because a Jewelcrafter can make better gems for own use. Because a lot of gear has sockets at later levels this is a nice profession. With JC you will be able to craft other pieces of Jewelry as well, for example necklaces. Blacksmithing is also a good option because you will be able to make plate gear. With BS you can also make sockets for your wrists and gloves and a belt buckle which comes as an additional socket for your belt.

The DK class is very fun to play. The only down point is that there are so many of them. The only thing that might bother you is that almost everyone has made a DK simply because you start at level 55 and it is fairly easy to level a char from there on.
