A New Teenagers Celebration With Gaming

The time of year had come to celebrate my son’s birthday.  After a little thought we came up with what we hoped would be a great way to celebrate the occasion.  We could turn our home into an arcade.  In order to make the party memorable, we knew that it would take more than one platform played on a little television and decided to ramp up the excitement as best as we could.

 

The first thing we would need was going to be some video game platforms, and it was not going to be good enough to only have one, we would have to get a Nintendo Wii, an kinect and a Playstation move along with a  variety of games for the kids to play and some televisions for them to play on.

 

There was no need for me to worry about how we would get the platforms for gaming and the televisions to play them on.  Or so I thought it would be simple.  I had bought a Nintendo system several years before.  I contacted a video game store and asked them if they had the systems to rent and found out they did not have the Xbox Kinect because it was to new and since the xbox 360 kinect had just passed it would be a while for them to start renting them but they did have titles available for all three of the platforms and it would just be a matter of finding a store that had the titles that I wanted.  We did not let that stop us from getting all three platforms.  We decided to talk to some of my son’s friends and borrow the platforms from them.

 

The other part of the gaming equation was getting the monitors to enjoy the games on.  Fortunately our home was already equipped with a big lat panel TV and we also had a decent size TV available for another console.  For the third television we decided to go all out.  We were able to lease a television that was bigger than I ever imagined, seventy-three inches, and it was delivered before the party.  We had to lease the television for at least thirty days because of the policies of the rental company.  It made watching television that month a whole new experience for the entire family.  My wife hated the idea, but it had to be done.

 

As the party approached we got everything set up.  The local video store was one of the places that we found some games that the kids would enjoy.  The kids who came to the party brought their own gaming supplies with them.  We found that we also had some older platforms and games to play with too.  We set up everything that we had that had anything to do with video games.  We did not have a shortage of things for a kid to do.

 

As the kids arrived I was amazed at the variety of thing that they brought with them.  There seemed to be no end to the extras for the consoles and games.  Our rooms were full of guns, swords, and everything else imaginable.  And then there was the video games that the kids brought with them that was just as vast as the accessories.  It was a good thing the party was a sleepover so the kids would have enough time to enjoy everything they had.

 

I gave up at some point in the party.  My son and his guest lasted longer than me.  There was not much sleeping that went on.  As I cooked some food, they were still playing.  I do not know how happy the other parents were about the lack of sleep for their children.  In the end we were able to accomplish what we wanted to.The xbox 360 kinect price is 159.99 US Dollars

The main thing that our kid wanted for the holidays this year was a motion gaming system.  Unfortunately it was up to me to decide what kind of platform to put under the tree.  This was not going to be easy for me to decide so as not to disappoint.  It was up to me to succeed and I decided that I was going to succeed.

 

In the store, it seemed like I was overloaded with choices that include the kinect, the Nintendo Wii, or the Playstation move, or I could opt or a handheld system like the PSP, or the Nintendo DS, or we could get a smartphone that has all sorts of application that a person can enjoy so in the end the choice was not going to be as simple as I thought and I would have to find a way to break it down.

 

I started out checking out how the phones would work for me.  My son was only ten, so I wasn’t sure if a phone would be right for him.  I was afraid about how fragile they could be.  There was also the monthly cost that was associated with a cell phone.  It would also require one of the more expensive plans in order to play games.  Although they might be fun, there were limitations to playing on a small screen of a cell phone.  All in all I thought that a phone would be something better suited for an adult.

 

Next I went over to the full sized gaming platforms and with the recent xbox 360 kinect, there were basically three fro me to choose form and they all had different advantages and disadvantages to them according to the salesman, and in order to decide what was best it would be a matter of the age of the user, the types of games that they like to play and how experienced a gamer they are.  For the best family experience, the Wii has been well tested for quite a while.  People who are into video games have turned to the kinect system.  Xbox lets people connect to others through the internet.  The Playstation has the best graphics of all of the systems.  There were plenty of titles available for all of the platforms.

These types of systems also allowed a person to buy different games.  The biggest advantage is that they could be played anywhere.  A child did not have to any type of wireless connection to play the games but they could f they wanted to.  The games could be taken and played anywhere, which is a good and bad thing.  Just like the cell phones that ability meant that the games could be broken or left somewhere.

 

I chose the Kinect system after my research.  I do not know all of the reasons that we made this decision.  It could be that Santa picked it.  My son could not have been happier.  He has already enjoyed many hours of playing games and does not look like he will stop.  I guess we made a good choice.
