Understanding your Mage’s player versus player strengths and weaknesses is the most basic secret of success in WoW PvP combat. Really understanding this lays the foundation for all the more sophisticated strategies and clever tricks you may want to employ later. Without that firm foundation of understanding, you’ll only be able to go so far. You’ll never become part of the elite. So let’s look at the PvP strengths and weaknesses of your Mage.

Mage PvP Strengths

Your Mage’s biggest strength is the ability to hit your enemies with massive attacks from a distance. Your potent attacks and huge stock of mana mean you can fry any opponent that stands still long enough. Any smart opponent will try to prevent that happening. But your Mage’s freezes and stuns let you immobilize unlucky targets long enough to really unload on them. With a well-executed attack, you can take down most enemies in seconds.

Mage PvP Weaknesses

Unfortunately for you, your Mage also has a major weakness in Player versus Player combat. Physically, your Mage is a wimp. A wimp with virtually no armor and no ability to heal himself. Let an enemy get close to you with blade or claws and your lifespan will be counted in seconds. The chances of you surviving such an encounter are tiny. And if you do, you have almost no ability to heal your injuries. Spells from the Frost branch of your talent tree can offer some protection, but even under ideal circumstances, your Mage will always be extremely vulnerable to melee fighters.

That covers the basic PvP Strengths and Weaknesses of your Mage. But there’s much more to learn if you really want to rule PvP. What you need is a PvP guide. A quality guide like the PvP Bible fills in all the blanks, and includes detailed information for going up against each opposing class. It is the best tool you can have if you want to get the best results in PvP combat.

Use a Mage PvP Guide to Rule PvP

March 7th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Playstation 2 Games, Playstation 3 Games, Playstation Games

Entering PvP combat as a Mage is an amazing experience, but can be very challenging. Your ability to understand and use your magical abilities against each player class will determine whether you dominate your foes, or get slaughtered by them. Still, Mage PvP combat is special, allowing you to experience the classic fantasy of controlling arcane powers to slay your enemies. You can experience that power if you learn to play the role properly.

It almost goes without saying that to rise to the top of the heap in Mage Player versus Player combat, you must prepared for your opponent. This is especially important for Mages, because all you have is your magic and wasting your mana on the wrong tactics likely signs your death warrant. When you run out of mana, you are incapable of mitigating damage, controlling crowds, or much of anything else. The standard tactics that you’ll find for free online, or in low-quality PvP Guides suggests hammering whatever comes your way as hard as possible right away to keep them away.

But that advice is too simplistic. Here’s one example of an exception to that general rule. Frost Mages have powerful defenses in their Ice Block and Frost Nova spells. That means they are much more robust than the usual caster, and don’t have to worry about dying the second their opponent gets close to them. Clearly there’s more to playing a Mage than just blasting away indiscriminately at anything in sight.

Experience has shown that while Mages can be highly effective in PvP, they are among the hardest of all classes to master. With so many ways you can mess up while working out your tactical kinks, a Mage PvP Guide is truly a wise investment for turning your Mage into an effective PvP combatant. This kind of knowledge is particularly useful when going up against a class like the Warlock, which sometimes are tweaked specifically for assassinating Mages. And with the release of Wrath of the Lich King (WOTLK), life has changed for Mages. You absolutely must have a PvP Guide that accounts for these changes to have any hope of rising into the elite.

Even if you do decide to learn the ins and outs of Mage PvP combat yourself, you’ll find that a quality PvP Guide will contain information that you’re unlikely to discover on your own. It will teach you the most important things to know, saving you a big block of time you would otherwise have to spend dying in battle before you become good at PvP combat.

Learn how your Mage can come to dominate the battlefield and score above a 2200 honor rating in as little as 38 days with the PvP Bible.
