Gaming Africa

copy PS games

There have actually been a fair few games made that are set in Africa and some of them have caused some really big arguments. Here are just the best ones out there at the moment.

Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil or Biohazard 5 in Japan was released earlier this year and is of course one of the many games in the Resident Evil survival horror franchise. As ever the game was developed and published by Capcom and strangely enough the game is actually the seventh instalment in the series. The game itself actually takes part in a fictional town Kijuju located in Africa. This is the game that seemed to cause the most controversy as when it was released people realised that the only people you had to kill were black people, what do you expect in Africa. Thankfully the game was deemed as non racist.

Call Of Duty- World At War

Although the entire game did not take part in Africa there were a couple of missions that did and this time the race row came from how the Japanese were shown in the game. On the other hand it is widely known that the Japanese treated all of their POW’s really badly.

Far Cry 2

This game is also set in a fictional town based in Africa. The reason the game is set in 2008 is because it was released on the same year. You play a mercenary who has been given the mammoth task of hunting down someone known as the Jackal. The thing is the Jackal is causing a lot of the problems as he is supplying both sides with weapons. The map is huge and you can go wherever you want on it which makes it so good.

If you seriously want to experience the real Africa then why not get over then and enjoy yourself? {Tanzania Holidays, Mozambique Holidays} and of course Zambia Holidays could be the right holiday to take.

Online Gaming : Learn Some Of The Basic Gaming Terms

December 27th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Playstation 2 Games, Playstation 3 Games, Playstation Games

You may have heard a few people who play online games spout certain terms like F2P, P2P, NPC or leveling up. These terms are what you might call online gaming jargon and, unless you are already an experienced online gamer, you probably aren’t yet aware of what mobbing, farming or hunting mean in online gaming. Here are some of the most basic terms that you may or may not hear from certain online gamers:

P2P - This is an abbreviation of pay-to-play which is used to describe online games which you must pay the creator of the game to participate in. This payment can be for a set number of hours or, more often than not, on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis.

F2P - This term is a shortened form of free-to-play and describes those games which can be played online without the need for any paid subscription. The fact that they are free doesn’t mean that they are low quality though; indeed, some of the best and most popular online games are F2P.

Bots - This term refers to those characters within a game which are being controlled by a computer rather than a human. Bots are generally more predictable than human players as they can only follow pre-determined scripts, however, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are weaker. Still, once you have learnt the typical behavior of a particular bot then they are not difficult to overcome.

NPC - Those characters within a game which are there to facilitate your adventure by giving you advice and helpful items are called non-player characters (NPCs). These are harmless characters for which you will gain nothing for killing.

Mobbing - This means to go on a mass killing spree in a short period of time. It is done if there happens to be a lot of weak players in the surrounding area or if someone want to quickly improve their characters points or reputation.

Loots / Drops - When you kill another character within a game you are rewarded with what is called loots or drops. These appear at the spot where the fatal blow was struck and can come in different forms. What exactly loots or drops are is dependent on the type of the character that has just been killed and what they were carrying. Typically though, you can expect them to be one, or a combination of, money, weapons, potions or accessories.

Farming - This usually happens in conjunction with mobbing, since mobbing often produces drops or loots that are needed by players to either make in-game money or steal weapons, potions or accessories from other players. This term is also used for collecting certain materials that are hard to find and are needed for creating rare weapons or armors that can help make a character stronger.

Online Games : P2P v F2P

December 27th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Playstation 2 Games, Playstation 3 Games, Playstation Games

You may have heard the terms P2P and F2P in association with online games. These basically mean pay to play and free to play, and online games are either one or the other. The debate that is going on between players and followers of these two types of games often stem from which type of game is best and which one gives you more chances of building a strong character based on hard work or based on your having money.

The arguments that people bring to the table on this subject can be pretty interesting to listen to since both sides do have rather strong points when they point out the flaws and the merits of each type. Here are some of the arguments that you will commonly hear:

The simple issue of cost is something that is clearly in favor of F2P games; after all, everyone likes free stuff! The cost of P2P games is often quite reasonable, maybe just or so a month, but that only represents good value if you actually login and play the games regularly. If you only play online games a few times a month, then it can be hard to justify even that outlay. Therefore, for part-time gamers it’s hard to argue against F2P games.

When you play an F2P game, you can log in any time and play any time without the need for subscriptions and paid game time, but the downside to these games is that you need to purchase certain items in an item mall to strengthen your character up or to help them level up faster. This means that if you play an F2P game, even when you do not need money to play, you will still need money to build a strong character. As for P2P games, you will find that weapons, armors and accessories that you need to become stronger can be had in-game without the need to buy them with real cash from an online shop.

Population-wise, F2P games seem to have more players in them due to the free to play scenario that allows anyone to play, but the ones that get to the higher levels of the game and those who become stronger are often those that have money to spend on premium items in the games item mall. P2P games may not have as many players as F2P games (although there are some P2P games that are highly populated due to awesome game play and popularity) but the players that you do find in these games are more hard-core and more dedicated to creating a balanced and strong character with constant game play.

Has advertising gone too far?

December 7th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Playstation 2 Games, Playstation 3 Games, Playstation Games

Advertisement is a part of life. Everywhere you go there is an advertisement of some kind whether it is on the bus, on the internet, in video games and in even in schools.

Even people that are playing computer games seem to be suffering as well with more and more “in game” advertisements being seen. The first game to actually feature an “in game” advertisement was way back in 1978 and was called Adventureland. The advertisement itself was merely showing off the next game that was on the way by the maker of Adventureland itself.

The FIFA games have also always contained various advertisements in the same way a football pitch would. Now games featuring cities in which you can explore like Prototype are using in game advertisements as well as shooters like Ghost Recon. Splinter Cell even had a giant billboard advertisement that you couldn’t avoid seeing as you had to climb over it.

Something that has started to cause huge arguments is the envolvment of corportate companies advertising within schools. The real question to ask is are corportate companies just trying their luck in a new sector or trying to almost trick the younger people into buying their products?

The business world has marked its presence in our schools in the following way:

  • Candy and chocolate manufacturers have begun printing branded educational posters.

  • A recent phenomenon in school canteens has been ’sponsored’ meals, with branded products being promoted.

  • Advertisers have begun placing display ads and posters on school buses so that kids are now seeing these advertisements at the beginning and end of each school day.

  • A recent and rather disturbing dystopian trend has been for actual lessons to be sponsored by a big corporation, so that in return for educational funding our children are seeing branded lesson plans, handouts and worksheets. This does not sound too different to the times of Nazi Germany in which the dictator Adolf Hitler forced people to read and write about the Nazis, does it?

There are a wide range of advertisements around the globe, ranging from managed print services to branding design. exhibition display stands are now even used for advertisements when a company is hosting or attending a certain event.

Military Pinch Game Technology

November 25th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Playstation 2 Games, Playstation 3 Games, Playstation Games

It has become clear in recent years that gaming as a whole has influenced the military. It would seem that the miliatry’s latest idea taken from the gaming world may have gone a bit to far as they have taken the game controller and started to impliment it into war.

Are there any real benifits to using this kind of technology? Well the first maker benefit would be that they no longer have to sit there on a mounted position controlling various things. Thngs like recon planes can now be controlled in very similar ways that you would control an RC plane. However all of this is starting to sound like that film with Robin Williams as a toy maker with his evil uncle using children to control military things from a far distance.

Will there ever be a time in which the troops need not even go into battle as they can just sit at home and use these controllers to control all of the tanks, helicopters and missiles? Of course not, the whole reason the army is a success is because of the skills, wits and training that all of these men and women have been given. This remote control technology is just another option open to many armies in battle and can be used to take a closer look at the enemy position without risking the lives of many men.

It is wondered how many deutsch connectors and cable ties are actually needed to develop this brilliant technology. However is it fair to put all of this onto the game pad creators? The thing is, this kind of technology was never meant to be used in this way, the next thing they will use is motion sensing things that can control tank,it is being taken too far. Let us just hope that they used hellermann tyton to make sure everything is secure enough to work.

Why Are There So Many Different Nintendo DSi Colors?

November 25th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Playstation 2 Games, Playstation 3 Games, Playstation Games

The massive choice of Nintendo DSi colors is one of the main reasons for its growing fame. It is true that this games console is known for its advanced technology and vastly developed features, but all said and done a lot can be said for the surface appearance too. These days, no one wants to be stuck in the drab land of black or white. So Nintendo is creating new, e and exciting colors to entice players around the world.

The Nintendo DSi has competed in the marketplace for a few months now.  Despite awesome initial sales, purchases are dwindling due to the recession afflicting our worldwide economy. Moreover, the majority of  avid gameplayers have already acquired their Nintendo DSi. Nintendo DSi colors are being produced to get the players back in the zone! There are extreme colors like lime green and pink now doing the circuit in Japan, with extra colors in production for the US. So this is a part of the marketing system Nintendo is launching.

It’s interesting that Nintendo is marketing differing Nintendo DSi colors in different countries. Even though it had introduced black and white in Japan, in the US it started off with black and blue. These colors were matted at the beginning, but now they have devised glistening and glossy bodies, with additions to the myriad Nintendo DSi colors. Normally one may expect a worldwide color of videogaming console that would be recognised across the planet, but Nintendo is choosing differing colors in the east and west. This could be a plan to cater to the idiosyncratic tastes of the nations, or to lift international Nintendo DSi colors trade.

Most often, producing fresh colors of an already established gizmo is a ploy to win the support of {the} users. But it is also true that the console is made more stylish and appealing. The times of black, white and grey are slowly receding into the past. These days, players always need their gaming gizmo to look chic and trendy. So now you are able to choose from a range of Nintendo DSi colors that reflect your style and gusto!

Need For Speed Shift is worth a go

November 18th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Playstation 2 Games, Playstation 3 Games, Playstation Games

After renting the game I can actually say it is very good. It is not like the previous additions which in my opinion have not been brilliant. The last one that was worth a ten minute go was Undercover and that was at best, okay.

This game has actually got a chance of competiting with the new Forza game which is on the way later this month.

The playability of the game really is quite brilliant with many hours having to be spent finishing all of the races, tuning the cars to suit your needs and playing it on the various difficulties. You are likely to also spend a lot of time on the online modes.

This game isn’t about used cars but more about the custom made models from the likes of Audi, Ford and every other car maker you can think of.

In terms of playing for fun , Need For Speed did seem a lot better than Forza but then again I have only managed to play the Forza demo. Forza has a bigger selection of choice when it comes to cars and also seems to have a far superior graphics engine.

EA have taken a slightly different angle with it this year by homing in on the driver. EA has made it so that if you crash or bump into someone you feel like the driver in that the screen will go blurry, high speeds are also shown in this way.

All you need to do is play the two demo's for the games and decide for yourself, you could always think about getting them both!

What the Nintendo DSi Blue can do For You

November 15th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Playstation 2 Games, Playstation 3 Games, Playstation Games

The Nintendo DSi is a portable game console and arrives third in the line of Nintendo DS consoles. The Nintendo DSi was released in Japan, USA, Europe and Australasia between 2008 and 2009. Plenty of the DS Lite’s features are maintained in Nintendo DSi with regards to aesthetics. However  an important improvement is that Nintendo DSi has two digital cameras able to be utilized in the games or employed as a individual camera feature. Gamers can now begin gaming with a Nintendo DSi blue deal.

With the Nintendo DSi blue, you must initially bear in mind that when the DSi was first released in Japan, it was only available in 2 colours; black and white. But as the DSi was launched in America, it offered a redesigned blue color as well as black. Later the pink, blue and lime green options were introduced in Japan too.

Of course, the Nintendo DSi blue has all the features needed to start playing. Typically it contains a blue casing, microphones, audio splitter, earbuds, USB charge wire, screen protector , screen cleaners, styluses, videogame case and wrist wrap. However, this is not a fixed list. Some outlets may offer you more accessories and others less, as quite a good number of these accessories are interchangable.

Gamers should use the Nintendo DSi blue to line up the games machine. Following set up confirm the bottom display of the DSi is overlaid with the touch screen, which is intended to register command from the curved plastic device called the stylus. The stylus should be connected to the additional wrist strap. The frontal part should house four face buttons, the directional pad and the Power, Start and Select buttons. The power cable inputs from beneath the hinge at the back part of the Nintendo DSi blue. It should also have a slot for game cards and a couple of shoulder buttons.

Therefore, your Nintendo DSi blue has successfully set up the famous game console, so you can get gaming without wasting any more time!
