In WoW you can learn different professions and Blacksmithing is one of them. The first thing you need as a Blacksmith is a Blacksmith Hammer which you can buy for just a few copper in almost every city. What you need in order to level up Blacksmithing are the different kinds of ore that can be found in the World of Warcraft. It would be a wise decision to choose the Mining profession as well because this would allow you to mine a lot of ore which you can use to level your Blacksmithing without much costs which beats buying all the ores for outrageous prices on the AH.
Blacksmithing is actually quite easy to level up as long as you have access to the much needed ores. You will be able to make great items with Blacksmithing. As you level it up to skill 150-200 you will mainly be making Mail Armor and Weapons of all kind. As you level it up higher you will start making Plate Armor while still learning new weapons as well. Since Plate Armor and melee Weaponry are very important for Paladins, Warriors and Death Knights, you can say that Blacksmithing and Mining would suit these classes best. As you continue to level up your Blacksmithing you will be asked to specialize yourself in either becoming an Armor Blacksmith of Weapon Blacksmith.
No matter which decision you make you will still learn quite an amount of both Armor and Weaponry Blacksmith plans. If you do specialize in Weaponry or Armor you will be able to learn several patterns that teach you how to create several rare items. Do know that you will be able to make most of the really good stuff that Blacksmithing has to offer at later levels can be made no matter which path you choose.
At a later level Blacksmithing is very nice because you will be able to create a lot of epic plate armor and special epic weaponry. The items you can make can be either worn by the Blacksmith or can be placed on the Auction House to earn some gold. Besides epic armor and weapons you can also create Belt Buckles. Belt Buckles can be applied to belts. Once used, you will see that you receive a socket on the belt which allows players to place a gem in their belt which makes the item better.
As a Blacksmith you have the advantage of being able to create Socket Gloves and Socket Bracer. These can be applied on your bracers and gloves and once applied you will also be able to place a gem in them to make yourself even stronger. It must be said that the last two mentioned abilities of a Blacksmith are designed to serve the Blacksmith alone and even though this mean that you can’t trade or sell these, you will definitely have something other players that do not have the Blacksmithing profession don’t have.
