Grinding is a great way to farm gold, items and reputation. If you want to know, how to use your mage to grind as fast as possible, this mage grinding guide is the right place to start.
Bur first of all I want to give you a tip: Notice how I didn’t say that grinding is good for farming experience? That’s because in my opinion grinding is not the fastest way to level your mage. Questing is the way to go in that aspect of the game.

Mage Grinding Talent Build: The Frost Spec
There are two ways to grind – one way is killing one mob after another. And there’s a better way: Slay a dozen mobs at once!
Sounds interesting? Then I recommend you to get yourself a frost talent build ASAP. This is the one mage build that can take on hordes of mobs simultaneous.
Frost specs focus entirely on freezing mobs, AoE spells and survivability. Make sure to aim for a deep frost build (0/0/71) to get all the great talents.
And then you will want to enhance your skills with the matching Glyphs!
Now look at the grinding tactic: As I’ve said, grinding with the frost spec is all about using area of effect spells like Cone of Cold, Frost Nova and Blizard to kill off as many mobs simultaneous as you can.
You have to pull them and gather them close to each other - then hit them all at once using your AoE spells.
This way will will be able to farm gold, reputation and items much faster. Again, if you simply want to level 1-80 as fast as possible, questing is more efficient and much more fun.
But here’s a trick: You can simply use the strategy given in my mage grinding guide to farm quest mobs – and complete every quest that involves killing quest mobs really fast!
