Since the release of Wrath of the Lich King (WotLK), WoW players have had a seemingly insatiable desire for flasks, transmutes, and other consumables. These are the stock in trade of the Alchemist. Any Alchemist who can provide the most desired of these items is sure to earn major piles of gold.
Once you know what the players will pay the most for, you can earn good profits through Potion Mastery or Transmutation Mastery. That said, Elixir Mastery is the specialty you want if your goal is to get the most gold you can as quickly as you can. Start with Flasks.
Flasks, with their ability to last through death, are the most valuable products of Elixir Mastery. If you can figure out the best types of flasks to produce, you can start cranking them out to start building up your gold supply. And don’t forget your Elixirs. Producing the most popular elixirs can be very profitable, even if not in the same league as flasks.
If you choose to focus on Potion Mastery, you’ll still be able to make gold by the bucketfull. In general, the Runic and Protection potions will make you the most money, but Wild Magic and speed potions are profitable too, and depending on market conditions, might even be a better choice on any given day.
Among the Alchemical specialties, Transmutation Mastery is likely the least profitable. This is because the cooldown delay between transmutations limits how much you can do in any one day. Even so, some types of transmutations are very profitable, and even with the delay your character can amass a lot of gold quickly if they’re smart about it.
